Accessit
Wairoa College’s Library Management System. Accessit gives students access directly to the wide range of fiction and nonfiction titles within the collection. It also allows students to access safe, credible online resources that support their learning. It can be accessed from the classrooms as well as off site, wherever the internet is available, and via most devices. |
The role of the library is as a welcoming space where a love of reading is fostered, and to enable students to be ‘information literate’ and provide them with access to relevant resources. A well-stocked print collection is provided to meet both learning and recreational reading needs, which are supported by online resources.
Classes are regularly booked into the Library to allow students to utalise the ‘Library Resources’ to support their learning / reading. Students also have access in small groups as needed to exchange books, study or discuss their needs with the Librarian. The Library is also a safe, comfortable place to socialise during lunch.

Hi, I’m Abby Morunga, I’m a Year 7 at Wairoa College. I really like the school library, it has such a good range of books. The school library is a great place to chill out, as it is open at lunchtime. It’s a fantastic place to chill out with friends or just read a book in peace. We have a great Librarian called Mrs Smith, she gives us very good advice about books. I really enjoy my time at the library hunting for books or having a chat with Mrs Smith. |
Mrs Smith’s Mission Statement I will use my passion and love of reading to create an environment, where the whole Wairoa College community (especially the students) feel that they can explore the literary world securely. My aim is to encourage individuals to engage in reading for personal pleasure and academic growth, creating well rounded individuals, who will embrace a life long love of reading and learning. |
